Objectives

- To enable participants to review and adjust accordingly their current approach to business writing

All employees wishing to enhance their business writing skills to meet the different requirements of the many forms of digital communication in the modern office
Course content
- Overview of the range of digital communication channels used in business and professional transactions
- The increasing importance of professional writing in the constantly evolving business landscape
- The four types of business writing: informational, instructional, persuasive and transactional
- 6-step process to ensure effective and impactful written communication at all times:
- Identify the reader’s information needs: primary, secondary and multiple audiences
- Get the basics right: correct use of language, appropriate layout, respect of corporate image
- List the key points to be included
- Write a preliminary draft focussing on the logical ordering of the key points to provide an appropriate response to the target audience’s needs
- Review in detail the preliminary draft: reorganising the order of content and refining the language used
- Proof-read the revised draft carefully checking for language and typing errors, readability, and appropriate tone
Duration: 8 hours (Theory: 5 hours - Practical: 3 hours)
